Delete Your This & That Account

You can permanently delete your This & That account at any time.

Deleting your account removes your access to the account and begins the process of deleting the personal information and content associated with it, subject to the limited retention described below.

The Fastest Way: Delete Your Account in the App

Open the This & That app and go to:

Settings > Account > Delete Account

Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your request. Once confirmed, your account is removed from normal use of the live Service and a 14-day recovery period begins.

If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion using the email address associated with your This & That account.

For your privacy and security, we do not confirm on this page whether a particular email address is associated with a This & That account.

If an eligible account exists for the email address you enter, we will send instructions to that address to verify and continue the deletion request.

The confirmation shown on this page is the same whether or not an account exists for the email address entered.

What Happens When You Delete Your Account

Immediately After You Confirm

Once your deletion request is confirmed:

• Your account is deactivated and removed from normal use of the live Service.
• Your profile and account content are no longer available through the live Service in the ordinary course.
• A 14-day recovery period begins.

During the 14-Day Recovery Period

For 14 days after requesting deletion, you may cancel the deletion request and restore your account.

The easiest way to cancel is to sign back into your This & That account during the recovery period and follow the restoration instructions shown in the app.

We may send a reminder email before the recovery period ends.

If you restore your account before the 14-day period expires, the deletion request is canceled.

After 14 Days

If you do not cancel the request during the recovery period, your account and associated personal information are permanently deleted from our active systems, subject to the limited retention described below.

Once permanent deletion is completed, the account cannot be recovered.

What Is Deleted

Subject to the exceptions below, permanent account deletion includes account-associated information such as:

• Account and profile information
• Profile photo and bio
• Profile details
• Ratings and reviews
• Rankings, collections, and lists
• Favorites and likes
• Queue or saved items
• Comments
• Follow relationships
• Direct messages associated with your account
• Other personal information and account content stored by This & That

Information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably identify you may be retained.

Information We May Retain

Deleting your account does not require us to delete information that we are legally permitted or required to retain.

We may retain limited information where reasonably necessary to:

• Comply with applicable law or valid legal process
• Preserve records or evidence relating to safety or abuse reports
• Comply with child-safety reporting or preservation obligations involving the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or other authorities
• Investigate or prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
• Maintain necessary records of serious moderation or enforcement actions
• Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
• Protect the rights or safety of This & That, our users, or others

Information or evidence connected to a child-safety report may be separated from ordinary account data and retained for one year, even if the account or underlying content is otherwise deleted. It may be retained longer where applicable law, valid legal process, or a preservation obligation requires it.

Information retained for these purposes will not remain available as an active This & That account.

Backups

Our database backups are retained on a rolling basis for up to 7 days.

As a result, information deleted from our active systems may remain temporarily in a secured backup for up to seven additional days before that backup is overwritten or expires.

Backups are maintained for disaster recovery and system integrity and are not used to restore a permanently deleted account for ordinary use.

Direct Messages and Reported Content

Direct messages are not publicly visible.

When an account is permanently deleted, message data associated with that account is deleted or disassociated as appropriate, subject to the legal, safety, security, and reporting exceptions described above.

Messages or other content connected to a user report, child-safety matter, legal preservation request, or serious safety investigation may be retained where required or permitted by law.

Pending Reports or Enforcement Matters

Deleting your account does not prevent This & That from investigating conduct that occurred before the deletion request.

If your account or content is associated with a safety report, abuse investigation, fraud or security incident, child-safety matter, legal request, or other serious violation of our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, we may preserve information reasonably necessary to complete the investigation, enforce our policies, protect users, or satisfy legal obligations.

If You Cannot Access Your Account or Email

If you cannot access your account or the email address associated with it, contact support@thisandthat.app and tell us that you are requesting account deletion. Include your This & That username, if known.

For security, we may require reasonable verification before processing a deletion request. We will never ask you to send us your password.
